First of all, the important part, who are we benefiting? This year’s funds and focus of the project is an orphanage in Cambodia associated with the Asia’s Hope Organization. This is a central Ohio based organization that partners local churches with an orphanage and in a sense that church will adopt the orphanage and do its best to help the children and missionaries in whatever ways they can. With the funds we raise this year we are looking to help send the kids to school at the on site school, as well as purchase gifts and clothing for this coming Christmas season. Last year we raised just over 1,800 dollars, which far exceeded our expectations. This year we would love to see the EMP surpass last year’s total and and maybe even find some who want to contribute year round to Asia’s Hope.

The Night of the Show has been set for THIS OCTOBER 30th (doors opening at 7) at the same location: Ibiza 33′s in Mount Vernon, OH. ! Which is almost a month away! So please begin spreading the word and thinking about what contributions you could make the benefit! So far bands that have committed to  playing are Clay, Brian Morgante (of Awaken, North Wind) and Halcyon Sea and at least 1 more band TBA at a later date!

We are very excited for this year’s concert. Last year was such a huge success there is already plenty of buzz around campus and town about this year! The benefit and organization we are supporting is top notch and making a huge impact in Cambodia, and we are thrilled at the opportunity to contribute to their efforts! And as usual, the bands who are coming to play are great artists and performers- and we are incredibly grateful to them for volunteering the night to benefit such a great cause!

At one point, the unofficial head count was 165, with around 180 in total attendence for the night.

We were successfully able to raise $1862 when adding together t-shirts/food/admissions/generous giving! And all of that will be headed to Brasil very shortly to help the orphange fix their roof, add on living areas, and feed the children-Job Well Done!

All in all it was a wonderful endeavor, we could not have done it with out all of your help, and we look forward to doing something like this again in the next school year!

Thanks for your continued interest in The Extended Melodies Project!

We recently added a new page to the site. STORIES. Here you can read stories about children who have already been blessed by the Pastor Josemar and his Orphanage. Hopefully, with the help of our contribution, he will be able to better shelter and nuture children such as these who seek shelter in his home.

Initially we set our goal at simply purchasing an irrigation pump ($500) to aid the children in cultivating their own food, but further dialogue amongst the hosts and sponsors has changed or vision and goal. Why would we limit our goal by setting a cap on it? They are in need of things such as beds, sheets, pillows, clothes, freezer, kitchen tables, monthly food, and a new roof. Therefore, we are officially repealing our original goal and stating our new one: As much as possible! The sky is the limit on the ammount of support we can raise, and their list of needs reaches about to the sky. So please spread the word to your friends, business, churches, and anyone else who would be willing to attend the benefit and contribute in anyway possible!

Finally, we’ve had 2 bands commit to performing on March 14th. The Collision is a young, up and coming band from the Oreville area with a pop/alternative sound and incredible vocals.

Wild Boy of Aveyron hails from the Canton area and features some of the best musicianship I have ever heard. Guitars, drums, winds, and much more combine to bring an amazing sound that must be heard to be completely understood.

We are VERY excited and fortunate that bands of their caliber have agreed to volunteer their abilities for the night! We will be adding more information about the bands to the BAND page in the next few days, but for now click on the bands name to proceed to their websites where you can listen to some of their songs and learn more about the bands. You’re in for a great show!

First of all, thank you very much for visiting the site and showing your interest in the Extended Melodies Project: Brazil.

This event is going to combine our hearts for music, children, and the betterment of humanity into one night, March 14th, 2009 in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

The Extended Melodies Project is a Benefit Concert seeking to raise enough funds to purchase an irrigation system for an Orphanage in Penedu, state of Alagoas, in Brazil. This orphanage is run by a pastor and his wife who currently have 21 children living in their home, 24 if you count their biological children. The irrigation system costs about $500 U.S., and a mere $100 will pay the basic food bill for a month. Our main is goal is to purchase the irrigation pump, for that will help them cultivate their own food, however any mount above and beyond will go straight to the Orphanage as well.

The Band list for the night is still uncertain, but the talent that is willing to volunteer their time for a night is quite amazing. Amazing enough we are having a hard time narrowing it down. So if the cause is not enough to draw you out for the night, the music will be!

If you are interested in getting involved, here are our needs:

• Food donations to sell at the concert, or monetary donations to purchase food.
• Monetary Donations to aid the bands (they are volunteering their talents for the night, the least we can do is pay the gas to and from, and a few meals for the day)
• Monetary donations to go straight to the orphanage. The only profit we will have from the actual concert is the cover charge and food sold. (for a complete list of their needs you could contribute to, email csnouffe@mvnu.edu)
• Finally, we need publicity and advertisement in business, churches, and schools. Word of mouth is the best way to go, but we can provide you with flyers as well.
• COME!!! and bring your friends and family

Most of all, we need your prayers for the concert itself, but more importantly the family and children living in Penedu. The number of street children in our world is a growing problem, and they need our prayer, support, and love more than anything.
